With just ten days until showtime, excitement is in the air! We had an absolutely dynamic second rehearsal last night at the headquarters for A Precious Child. The fantastic women in this show gave their all when reading their pieces, and we know the live show will be even more emotional, entertaining, hilarious, and powerful.

We are so looking forward to being together, laughing, crying, and celebrating the power of sharing stories and coming together in community. Plus, it’s an evening out at the historic and fabulous Boulder Theater, and isn’t a memorable night out with girlfriends, mothers, sisters, or partners what every woman really wants for Mother’s Day? (Brunch and flowers are great, too, but. . . )

We know Mother’s Day is a complicated season for many people, and we would like to re-emphasize that Listen To Your Mother brings to light a nuanced perspective on the diversity of the motherhood experience, rather than glorifying motherhood and celebrating all that is wonderful about it (though there is some of that, too!). This year’s show highlights the complexity of the mother-daughter experience, features a wide variety of childhood and parenting experiences, and showcases the absurdity, struggles, and hilarity of family life. Above all, LTYM gives us an opportunity to come together and share the universal themes of family and motherhood—the good, the bad, the ugly and sometimes painful—that remind us of how much we really are connected.

Here are some fun behind-the-scenes pictures from our rehearsal last night! (We are missing a few of our beloved cast members in this photo, but they’ll be there for show night! ????)

We figured out how to use an iPhone camera timer! ????

We are so pleased to introduce new sponsor Deb Rubin from The Mother Daughter Journey this year!

Deepening connections in a disconnected world

Can you imagine what it would feel like to have a deep connection with your preteen or teenage daughter in a way that felt authentic to you? To create a home where your daughter feels safe to be exactly who she is? If your daughter knew and valued her self-worth because you trusted yourself as her mom?

The Mother Daughter Journey programs offer options for all the stages of this wild ride, including workshops for moms only of 9-11 year olds, middle schoolers, 9th-10th graders and even Dads of Daughters (and those who identify as daughters)! My workshops are dynamic, educational and empowering. You will learn a blend of research and strategies on how to relate to your daughter, increase your confidence and bring some levity into your parenting journey.
