Welcome back to ParentZ Bop: Drop the Mic, Mom. You rewrite the song lyrics, and I’ll record a video! Our second installment is brought to us by the clever Peyton Price of Suburban Haiku. Peyton’sΒ newest book is coming out next month- you can pre-order one today! Go, Peyton!
Peyton has rewritten the Rolling Stones classic to highlight the inconvenient, frustrating, and often disgusting reality of parenthood: You Can’t Always Poop Where You Want. You’re going to love it. I can testify that especially when your children are of potty-training age, you definitely cannot always poop where you want. Sometimes you poop in the aisle of outlet stores. True story. Enjoy!
Next on our docket is my hilarious friend Don from Don of All Trades. If you know Don, you know it’s going to be brilliant, and you don’t want to miss it. Do you have a song you’ve been dying to rewrite? Send me an email in the Contact Me form above!
OMG-I think I may have performed a similar version of this a few times in my life! Love this!
Thank you Sarah! I’m so glad you liked it!
I love these. Please don’t ever stop doing them.
Aw, thanks. I so appreciate the encouragement. And thank YOU for sharing@ xo
hahaha! So hilarious. And, how amazing is your brother’s basement?? He’s pretty good with that tambourine too. This made me laugh. A lot.
My brother kicks ass. He performed all the background percussion on my children’s CD, too! And his basement is one of the 7 Wonders of the World.
You win the part of the Internet dedicated to disco basements, Stones parodies, and awesome.
Now THAT is some high praise, especially coming from you, oh Queen of the Character Assassination Carousel. Your comment made my day. Sure, it’s only 7:00 am, but still- it will be hard to top that! π Thank you! xo
Words cannot describe how much I love this. I might have to write a song about you singing this song.
That would be very “meta”. Or something. I am SO glad you did this, Peyton! It’s a hit! Can’t thank you enough!
I love the family collaboration on this.
I go bathroom in Walmart, little league games – some scary prospects there. I was pretty lucky with Ben, I only recall one unforeseen pooping in nature incident. But that’s what nature is for, right?
What a brilliant installment, love, love, love!!!
Singing about poop should *always* be a family affair. That’s my motto and I’m sticking to it. Crossing my fingers for a public-bathroom-disaster-free year for you!
“You poop where you need!” I am dying! I so relate to the little league potty battle!
Peyton did a great job, didn’t she? Love these lyrics… thanks for stopping by, Kerry! π
Oh, I remember those days so clearly. This perfectly captures the inconvenient and urgent nature of early potty training days!!
And you know… every once in awhile as an adult! π
This could be the theme song in my house – love it! I’m so enjoying this series of Parentz Bop, Stephanie – you’re a rockstar!
So awesome!!! Can’t wait to hear Don’s!
Holy CRAP, Stephanie. This is frickin’ awesome. So let me get this straight, you can write, play guitar, sing, AND you have access to a disco basement and a tamborining brother? I kind of hate you right now.
You’ve made my day by stopping by. This is a straight-up celebrity sighting. So are you going to write me a song to sing? π And yes, my brother, his tambourine, and his disco basement are all extremely awesome.
Stephanie + Peyton = PERFECTION!
Adding Brother on Percussion = PERFECTION TIMES INFINITY!!
You guys are all hilarious and talented — and as far as I’m concerned, you can poop where ever you want!
Aw, thanks Darcy! I really appreciate that! π
OMG…this is BEYOND BRILLIANT!!! The lyrics are the funniest thing EVER and you are just amazeballs! (and kudos to your brother on percussion). I can’t even tell you how much I love this. I LOVE THIS. LOVE IT!!! –Lisa
OMG β that is awesome! I love it! You have an amazing voice to boot! (Iβm not sure I would have been able to get my bro to back me up like that.)
Again, another classic totally restructured in my mind. Love it..it is all brilliant but I really love your brother on the tambourine under disco lights. Really sets the mood. π
You are brilliant. This is brilliant. I think I see an album in your future. Also. LOVE Planned Dancehood!!!!!
omigosh I laughed soooo hard! love it!
