It is our great pleasure to announce the 2023 Listen To Your Mother Boulder show!
Save the Date for Saturday, May 13th at the Boulder Theater!
We are thrilled to bring you another show at this fantastic historic venue after a memorable show last Mother’s Day.
We will be officially announcing auditions in January, and in the meantime, start writing, because this could be the year when YOU stand up on stage and share your story! Here’s what the audition process will look like this year:
- We will have a preliminary round of auditions with written submissions only–we will open submissions via email mid-January until mid-February.
- If your piece is selected to move on to the next round of in-person auditions, you will schedule a timeslot in March to read your piece.
- We will finalize our cast mid-March, rehearse in April, and present our show at the Boulder Theater on May 13th!
Our January audition announcement will provide more details, but if your creative juices are flowing, here are some things to keep in mind:
- Your piece should be approximately 5 minutes when read aloud. This is roughly 600-1100 words, but will vary widely depending on content and speaking style.
- The central theme of the story must be motherhood. We always aim for a diverse mix of stories—we look for funny essays, poignant essays, and everything in between. We welcome all stories of motherhood from all people.
- You DO NOT have to be a mother (or even a woman!) to audition.
- You do not have to consider yourself a writer or have experience as a stage performer– we welcome all levels of experience with writing and speaking.
- Previously published work may be accepted as long as you have full rights to read it at this event.
