Taylor Appling
Taylor is honored to be a part of the first Listen To Your Mother alumni show and has enjoyed attending both virtual and in person shows since she was a part of the 2019 cast. During the early morning hours before her family is awake she enjoys writing, daydreaming, and reflecting. Her participation in the show helped to reignite for her a passion in writing that she has relied on to help her through the many challenges that the last few years have held. Taylor leads a full life as a teacher, mother of two daughters, wife, daughter, and sister. She often finds inspiration for her writing while hiking and trail running, although her ideas got a little foggy when she recently paced her husband in the middle of the night during a 100 mile trail run. There was something poetic, though, about being wrapped in the little bubble of light from her headlamp.
Monica Breed
Monica Breed lives in Boulder with her husband, two teenage daughters and their dog, Milo. Rain or shine, she commutes daily on her bike, interacting with the world from two wheels. Monica, or “Mo,” considers herself an “educator adventurer,” someone who teaches middle school Language Arts while still doing fun stuff outside in her free time. She’s grateful for her family, her good friends, and her teaching partners, who keep it fun. Most of her writing consists of crafting models and examples for her sixth grade students, so writing for adults, where she can use bigger words and worry less about mistaken innuendos, is always a welcomed opportunity. Mo was a LTYM cast member in 2019 and May 2023 and is glad to be back in the midst of a great group of writers and humans.
Eunice Brownlee has spent her life telling stories across many mediums. As a multi-passionate creative, she’s used photography, marketing, writing, and public speaking to connect her message to the world. Because the heart of building community begins with sharing stories, Eunice uses her stories to connect, heal, and inspire change. Eunice spends time teaching others the craft of story in her speaking and writing practice. She has coached speakers in telling their stories with WomanSpeak and TEDxFolsom. Eunice’s writing has been published in Jennifer Magazine, Motherscope, and Spoken Black Girl, to name a few. When she’s not doing any of the above, she can be found seeking her next passport stamp and drinking wine. linkedin.com/in/eunicebrownlee; Web: eunicebrownlee.com
Chris Chandler
Chris has been gifted socks that say “Ringmaster of the Shit Show,” “F*** off I’m Reading,” and “I Cannot Live Without My Dog.” That pretty much sums it up. She believes sharing our stories is healing for ourselves and the world, a practice that brings us together and helps us feel less strange and alone. Chris’s memoir, Stay Sweet: Tales of Quirky Southern Love, was published in May.
Lynn Gottman
Lynn Gottmann is a mover and shaker from the flat part of Colorado. She spent her youth riding horses and making waves. Lynn is retired from 46 years of working in schools, with 26 of those years teaching Special Education. She still shows up to help when asked, which is a bit too often. She is passionate about baking instead of feeling feelings and helping others reach their potential. In addition to her consult work, she is also very involved in non profits that are making a difference in her small part of the world. Lynn’s pride and joy are her grandchildren; creating beautiful spaces; and helping others increase their quality of life (with or without their permission). She believes most things can be solved with a long walk. Her grandchildren are the apple of her eye. When Lynn grows up she hopes to be a wildly successful business owner that makes bookoo bucks.
Bri Hill
Bri Hill is a contemporary artist, teacher, and writer. She is known for her commission work, sleek line drawings, and expressive modern abstracts. After living abroad, with her husband Matt, she currently resides on the high plains of eastern Colorado where she was born and raised. Settled near family in rural America, they are raising their two children, Benton and Scarlett, along with their dog Gladys. Bri is a veteran K-12 teacher, and now course creator where she inspires others to make art through her online classes. Her art has been featured at NYNOW in New York, the Mighty Millions house in Denver, and in the homes of hundreds of collectors. Her writing has been published in Scary Mommy, The Pregnant Chicken, The Listen to Your Mother productions, and various other publications. When she is not making a mess in her studio she can be found teaching yoga, helping with her family’s cattle, watching reality television, or feeding snacks to her small humans.
Stacey is a mother to two could-not-be-more-different daughters, ages 3 and 5. By now she thought she’d be totally immersed in motherhood, happily sitting on the floor “doing voices,” trying desperately to hold on to every precious moment. But instead, she found herself on that same floor reminiscing about the days when she was a writer (published in Paleo Magazine, Hub Spot, New You Magazine), a Chicago ad girl (Revlon, Green Toys, Enjoy Life), a paleo food blogger and health coach (at HealthyStacey.com), and a karaoke superstar (please, don’t clap). Stacey finally got tired of daydreaming about the woman she wanted to be and did something about it by creating the Mother Plus Podcast. Here, she leads women who have lost themselves to sleepless nights and 24/7 tiny human demands to a motherhood where they can be themselves, do things for themselves, and ask for what they want.
