Time for another ParentZ Bop song parody video! Do you guys know Don from Don of All Trades? He is one of the funniest dad writers out there, and even made it into the Blogger Idol Top HoweverMany! He is hilarious, but don’t let his off-color jokes and swearing fool you- he is one smart guy. For real. He wrote some amazing lyrics to the Sara Bareilles song “Brave”- I’m going to include them here so you can read along as you listen to the video. I think you will be super impressed with Don’s songwriting prowess.
I have another special guest performer- last time it was my brother Brian playing back-up percussion- this time it’s one of my BFFs, Shannon, playing guitar and singing harmony! She is amazing, and I think you’ll love it. I promise to improve my recording and sound editing skills sometime this year.

Behave
Lyrics by Don
You can drive me crazy
You can turn my clean house into a total freakin’ dump
You can be such a loudmouth
But I’ve also seen you peaceful as a dove
I’ve even caught you giving your siblings hugs
Daddy hates to spank you but sometimes I have to
When all my yelling does no good
I put you into time out; when you fuss and pout
Sometimes your brother joins you there
That’s when I wonder what would happen if you
Do what your parents say
And don’t give us any lip
Honestly, we want to see you behave
When you’re playing with the Wii
You can’t hit your sister in the head
Honestly, we want to see you behave
We just want to see you
We just want to see you
We just want to see you
We want to see you behave
When you’re at the daycare
It’s ok to be scared by that older, bigger boy
No, don’t hit with stick
Now you’re gonna get a lickin’
Stand over in the corner
Don’t you sass the babysitter
Maybe this is just a phase you’re going through
Maybe it’s what they mean by the terrible two’s
When will you start behaving?
Do what your parents say
And don’t give us any lip
Honestly, we want to see you behave
When you’re playing with the Wii
You can’t hit your sister in the head
Honestly, we want to see you behave
And since your history of violence
Causes babysitters to shy away
So at home is where mommy and I must stay
One day we will have the last laugh my boy
Karma will find you I pray
Do what your parents say
And don’t give us any lip
Honestly, we want to see you behave
When you’re playing with the Wii
You can’t hit your sister in the head
Honestly, we want to see you behave
We just want to see you
We just want to see you
We just want to see you
We want to see you behave
We just want to see you
We just want to see you
We just want to see you
See you behave

Oh, yes, I think I’ve heard of Don…
I snorted out loud the first time “we just want to see you behave” came up. This is genius! Every next vlog I watch becomes my favourite one. Awesome, awesome, awesome!
I love it. “when your playing with the Wii, you can’t hit your sister in the head” was written for me. From now on, I will sing that phrase/verse! (Can’t wait to see their reaction).
Love it! I’m so impressed with these. People are brave!
Well done, both the hilarious lyrics and the awesome performance!

Yay you and your friend for being awesome!
OMG I love it. Now I want to redo the lyrics I sent to you because these have all been so awesome. I think my favorite line was that karma will find you I pray – hahah. Great job Steph and Shannon and Don – you nailed it. Love.

Another awesome song – both lyrics and performance!
Ha! I love Brave, but the next time my kids start arguing, I’m going to sing the THIS chorus! Awesome!
That was amazing! Of course, I am surprised by the lack of swearing, but pleasantly surprised! 🙂
Great job to both of you!!
These are all so awesome and each one is just as good as the last! I will definitely check out his blog…those lyrics were hilarious!
